The book of Colossians begins with talk of an expectation reserved for believers in the heavens. Then, in the first two chapters of this letter the words realize and realization are pelted upon the reader of this scripture. Why? I think this is because the truth spoken of is so rarely realized by people and it is a truth that transcends all.
AN EXPECTATION IS RESERVED FOR YOU IN THE HEAVENS – This is a special reward for those who truly know God. Yes, all will be saved, but some will have a special reward in heaven based on a realization that has been given to them by God.
Colossians 1:6 — …from the day on which you hear and realized the grace of God in truth.
Colossians 1:9 — …filled with the realization of His will…
Colossians 1:11 — …bearing fruit in every good work, and growing in the realization of God…
Colossians 2:2 — …realization of the secret of the God and Father…
Alright, so what is this secret realization that God gives to a select few? A realization that brings certain people to a special salvation that is at the core of truth revealed by our creator? What is this realization that Satan and his minions in the church and all over the world fight to keep people in the dark over? For the answer, I think we need to look at the major verses within this mighty letter to the Colossians. Those verses are Colossians 1: 15-20, which speak of just Who Jesus Christ is…Here it reads:
Who is the Image of the invisible God, Firstborn of every creature, for in Him is all created, that in the heavens and that on the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones, or lordships, or sovereignties, or authorities, all is created through Him and for Him, and He is before all, and all has its cohesion in Him.
And He is the Head of the body, the ecclesia, Who is Sovereign, Firstborn among the dead, that in all He may becoming first, for in Him the entire complement delights to dwell, and through Him to reconcile all to Him (making peace through the blood of His cross), through Him, whether those on the earth or those in the heavens.
There, I believe, is the secret. The above scriptures mention that all is created through Jesus Christ, whether they are in the heavens or on the earth. This includes all beings, whether angels or demons, believers and non-believers, the whole lot! Understanding that all is created through Jesus is part of this realization. The second and most glorious part of this realization, one that most people do not get, is that through the blood of the cross Jesus will bring all of these humans and entities to God. It is through the blood of the cross and through Jesus Christ that every last being will be saved. This is based on nothing the human or entity has done, but based solely on the work of Jesus Christ. This is the realization: I am saved by Jesus Christ and will one day be a son of God, just like Jesus. However, this is not because of the good I have done nor the bad I have avoided. It is all of Jesus Christ.
Philippians verses 9 thru 14 complements these scriptures in Colossians by exclaiming that God highly exalts Him with the name that is above every other name, that in the name of Jesus Christ every knee should be bowing, celestial and terrestrial and subterranean, and every tongue should be acclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord, for the glory of God, the Father (Philippians 2: 9-11).
So, in Colossians we are told that Jesus created all and will bring all to God through His death and resurrection. Then, in Philippians, we are told that every knee in the celestial, terrestrial and subterranean will bow to Jesus and their tongues confess that He is Lord. You can, like some church going people, believe that this is something that should happen but doesn’t or that it is some forced confession from an eternally defiant being. However, neither of these two scenarios would be for the glory of God, the Father.
You see, the fact that God created all beings through Jesus, His only Son, then put them through evil and brought them back to Himself through the blood of His Son so that each and every one of them will know His good works and bow with confession that Jesus is Lord, gives God glory. A forced confession or talking about something people should do but don’t, does not give God the glory as scripture proclaims.
So here is the glory that Colossians and Philippians proclaim. God created His Son, Jesus Christ, then created all creation through Him. At the appointed time, Jesus appeared on earth to live, suffer, die and be resurrected for all humanity and entities. God uses this process of living, evil, suffering, death and resurrection to create humans to be His own Sons and Daughters, just like Jesus Christ. Jesus is simply the first.
So that, my beloved, according as you always obey, not as in my presence only, but now much rather in my absence, with fear and trembling, be carrying out your own salvation into effect, for it is God Who is operating in you to will as well as to work for the sake of His delight (Philippians 2: 12-13).
Therefore, our salvation is unique in the sense that we are all unique human beings. God will save a select few with a special salvation and then the rest with salvation. In the end, all will be saved and God will dwell in them. However, each person will work through their own salvation, not that they will save themselves, but in the sense that each person will experience unique trials, sins, pain, triumphs, death and all God’s ordained circumstances and reactions given to them by God since the beginning of time. God orchestrates it all, as the very next verse says that it is God Who is operating in you to will as well as work for the sake of His delight. It is all of God, He causes us to do both the good and bad and directs our lives and circumstances to His desired salvation for us. God chooses to bring us to the greatest possible eternity that we will enjoy even more because we went through our unique pain. THE END GAME: ALL SAVED THROUGH THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRST TO ENJOY AN ETERNITY TAYLORED MADE, HAND-NITTED FOR THEM BY THE ALMIGHTY GOD!
